VIRGINIA DESTINATION WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Wow! As I was combing through this past year's weddings I was struck by this image from one of the waterfront destination weddings we photographed in the Spring here in Virginia. If you click on the image you'll see it larger to appreciate the detail, only matched by this couple's sweet fun-loving personalities. Enjoy the original post for this Virginia wedding's photographs here.

RICHMOND WEDDING | ELENA AND BRANDON

Brandon and Elena were married at an intimate December wedding in Mechanicsville, Virginia, just outside of Richmond. This brave couple ventured outside in the winter's cold for a lovely first look portrait session filled with laughter. The bride wore a beautiful wedding gown from Tiffany's Bridal. Her jewelry of choice was blue topaz and pearls, an elegant touch to compliment her wedding colors. The bride's hair and her maid of honor's hair was styled by Laura D's Hair and Day Spa. Classic winter themed bouquets and boutonnieres were created with juniper and white roses. The winter theme continued in the reception centerpieces. Snowflake baskets, filled with ornaments matching the wedding colors.

The couples' beautiful wedding cake, created by Kalico Kitchen, perfectly matched the decor of the day with fondant snowflakes and a snowflake wedding cake topper. The wedding guests enjoyed delicious hors d'oeuvres, catered by Groovin' Gourmet. Brandon and Elena and their guests enjoyed a sweet time together dancing and mingling until the sweet couple was sent off with a farewell of bubbles and cheering.

Elena and Brandon, congratulations! We wish you and your family the very best in the New Year and all the years to come. We truly enjoyed getting to know you and your guests. Thank you for choosing us to capture your wedding memories!

FREDERICKSBURG, VA WEDDING | RICHARD AND JENNIFER

Wedding Sneak preview! A beautiful December wedding ceremony and reception for Richard and Jennifer this past Saturday in Fredericksburg, VA. The groom surprised his bride with a beautiful love song - and an amazing voice. The couple are singers and musicians so their music-centered ceremony, with a live band, was well suited, and very thoughtfully planned. The bridal party and guests enjoyed a simply elegant ceremony and reception, with laughter, dancing, toasts, a gorgeous and delicious cake, and a fun photobooth experience.

For this wedding we created a set up with wireless off-camera lighting to add a nice edge during the ceremony and reception. Our technique for this indoor wedding included a combination of ambient light only, on-camera flash + ambient, and off-camera flash lighting. Not all ceremonies are suited for this type of set up, but this one was. We loved using this unobtrusive and powerful technique for this sweet wedding.

Here's a lighting diagram for this wedding ceremony:
